Rate Information
roomMaster can be configured to handle an unlimited number of rates — however, keeping the rates simple will ease maintaining the rates table in the future. Different rate codes would be RACK, which means the default rate, the rate which is the most common that a regular guest would pay, or special rates such as GOVT for government, AARP for Senior Citizen, BUS for Business, AIRL for Airline discount, SPEC for Special Rate, MTH for monthly rate, or PACK for Package Rate. To make setting up rates even easier, you can set some rate codes to be derived from a base rate. So if the AARP rate is always 10% less than RACK, you can set AARP as a derived rate and it will always be 10% less than what ever amount would be charged for RACK for the same period. However, you cannot derive a rate from a previously derived rate. So if the GOVT rate is always 10% less than the AARP rate, you cannot use the AARP rate derived from the RACK rate as the base rate for the GOVT rate. Instead, set the GOVT rate to be 20% less than the RACK rate.
In addition to the different rate codes and rates, roomMaster allows you to put a discount percentage or amount on each folio at check-in time such as 20% off or $15.00 off.
Rates can be daily, weekly, monthly rates or package rates and you have the ability to override the room rate on any folio to a special rate for each guest. There is also a setup option to default the reservation and check-in screens to automatically override the rate.
Seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) should not have their own rate codes or the system will not be able to handle rate changes. It also makes it more difficult for agents to make reservations. If your rate changes between Spring and Fall, keep both of these rate records as RACK and enter different date ranges.
Rate Changed Date/Time/User is logged when the user changes either the Rate Header information (Setup > Rates Management > Setup Rate Codes) as well as Rate Detail information (Setup > Rates Management > Change rate entry)
