Credit Card Encryption

Setup > Configuration > Manage > Encryption Keys

Under PCI DSS 1.2 Req 3.6, establishments which store credit card information must change cryptographic keys (encryption keys) on an annual basis. InnQuest Software/roomMaster allows this when signed on as Manager (the highest security level).

By default, a random encryption key is assigned to all installations when the software is purchased/registered. It is the customer's responsibility to rotate and assign new keys according to their obligations with PCI-DSS standards or local laws.

To assign/rotate your key

  1. All users should exit out of roomMaster and all interfaces should be shut-down

  2. Sign on with "Manager" authority.

  3. Select Setup > Configuration > Manage > Encryption Key

  4. Enter your password again for access to changing the encryption key

  5. Press the Rotate and Re-encrypt Key

  6. Press OK and return the system back to normal.

Warn to change keys each year during Dayend Close When selected, if an encryption key rotation has not been completed in the last year, a Warning error will appear on the audit precheck.
