Connector Rooms

roomMaster gives you the ability to assign connecting rooms on reservations. To implement this feature, simply assign the room that connects to an existing room on the room setup screen under Setup > Configuration > Reservations > Room Numbers.

When configuring connecting rooms, only assign the connected room to the parent room. Any amount of connector rooms can be assigned to a parent room.

Example of a main room (101) and one connecting Parlor room (102).
In this case, on the room record for room 102, enter 101 in the Connect Room field.

Example of two rooms (101 and 102) that connect to each other.
In this case, on the room record for room 101, enter 102 in the Connect Room field and on the room record for room 102, enter 101 in the Connect Room field.

Example of three rooms that connect on each side. This would be a main suite (room 550) with parlors on each side (549 and 551). In this case, on room 549, enter 550 in the Connect Room field and on room 551, enter 550 in the Connect Room field. Note that on the parent room (the main room), the Connect Room is left blank. Always assign the 'child' room to the 'parent' room. The parent room is the main room that the guest is booking first.

Assigning connector rooms to reservations

When assigning rooms to a reservation, simply assign the main room and then check the option to Show/Add Connecting Rooms. Rooms do not have to be the same room type to be connectors, so you could assign a Suite room type to a reservation, then assign a connecting parlor or king room type as the second room.

If the connecting rooms are different room types, the total number of guests, Adults and Children, for both rooms should be entered on the reservation of the parent room.

When checking in a reservation that has connecting rooms, simply checkin the reservation and all connecting rooms will checkin automatically, each with their own folio. The room rate on the connectors will be $0.00 and all charges will automatically reroute to the main room. This shows the connector room(s) as occupied, but they will not be used to post room, tax and/or charges. The folio(s) is usually zero/blank when checking out.

Notes:

  • If desired, change the number of adults and children staying in a connector room after checkin.
  • You must manually check out connector rooms
  • You must adjust check out dates if the parent room checkout date is being changed.
