Making a Reservation
A reservation is used to create a record that a guest will be staying at your hotel in the future. A reservation consists of stay information, name and address information, payment information and any other related information. You have the ability to add two custom fields on the reservation form which have "Lookup" capability and six custom free-form text fields. See User Fields for more information.

Select Front Desk > Reservations (or press F5).

Select the Add Reservation button located at the bottom of the browse screen, or press Insert.

Go to the General Information tab and enter the Stay Information.
Enter the Check-In date, then Nights or Check-Out date. Enter a Room Type and Rate Code, as well as any Discounts.
[!TIP] When entering a date in roomMaster, separators such as "/" or "-" are optional. For December 31, 2010, all you have to enter is 123110. Additionally, if you do not enter the year, roomMaster will use the current year. Entering 12/31/10, 123110 or 1231 anytime in 2010 will all yield the same result.
- Enter the Personal Information.
If roomMaster can find a match in the Guest Profiles after you enter the first and last names, you will see the "Possible Match in Guest Profiles" window. A first and last name is required to create the reservation.

- Next, go to the Other Information tab to enter the guarantee information. This information is used so you know how to hold the reservation.
If the reservation is guaranteed by credit card, enter the credit card number and expiration date.
If the reservation is not guaranteed and should be cancelled by a certain time, use hold type CASH.
If the reservation is guaranteed by deposit, select DEP as the hold type.

- Once the reservation record is finished, select OK to save the reservation.

If you want to assign a room to the reservation (which means put a room aside for the reservation), press the Assign Rooms button.
