Place Temporary Hold on Room

Rooms can be placed on Temporary Hold by going to the Room Properties screen from the Availability/Room Chart or Housekeeping windows. This is useful when a walk-in guest wants to inspect a room prior to renting, and the front desk clerk wants to make sure that the room is not sold by somebody else while showing the room to the guest.

When putting a room on temporary hold, the clerk enters the number of minutes the room will be on hold, as well as a reason for the hold. The room will be returned to Vacant/Clean status after the time expires.

Note: Only Vacant/Clean rooms can be put on Temporary Hold.

Rooms on Temporary Hold are shown with an orange housekeeping status.

Examples of placing a room on hold:

  • Maintenance needing the room for the next 30 minutes for pest control or carpet cleaning.
  • Sales needing the room for next 15 minutes to show future potential guests a room.
  • An employee needing the room for training purposes.
  • Waiting on housekeeping to verify the status of a room.
  • A desk person showing a potential guest the room or letting them view the room before wanting it.

Enforce Release Security

roomMaster gives you the option to not allow other users access to a held room for up to 20 minutes, and only allowing Managers, Supervisors, or the user who put the room on hold to release it. Click here for more information on setting the Release Security.
