EPI - Using with IP (TCP/IP)

Using EPI With IP (TCP/IP)

EPI can be configured to get information across the network for IP based phone systems by using a special Serial to Ethernet-hub. No more having to reconfigure EPI COM ports if you have to move it to another machine. COM Ports are no longer needed on the computer to receive information from any phone, voicemail and POS system. Information is simply posted through the computer network port. The Configuration file in EPI can be set to select IP in addition to COM ports or file input.

Simply connect all your phone, voicemail and POS interfaces to the back of the Serial to Ethernet-hub and then connect it to your network hub. This saves you from having to run long serial cables from your external devices to the computer running EPI, as well as having COM ports on that computer. If the computer running EPI fails, simply run the EPI interface on another available workstation without having to do any reconfiguring.

The Serial to Ethernet-hub is available from InnQuest Software and comes in both 4 and 8 ports. The setup of the device can be done in less than 3 minutes. Once you use this device, you will never have the headache of IRQ's, com device errors, knowing which port is COM1 and which is COM2 and having distance issues between your phone room and your EPI server.
