Item Options
iQ-POS Extended Only
The Item Option on the Menu group screen of the iQ-POS terminal is where you can send special messages to the kitchen or separate checks.
Special Kitchen Messages
To send special instructions to the kitchen, like "box to go", "no sides" or "combine on same plate", use Special Kitchen Messages. These messages can be included on the kitchen order, but will not print on the guest receipts. Up to 10 standard messages can be created. A few standard messages are included with iQ-POS. To edit the messages or add new ones, go to Maintenance > Special Kitchen Messages. Enter what you want on the button in the left column and the message to print on the kitchen receipt in the right column.
To include a message on a kitchen receipt, open the POS terminal and select an item. Then press Item Options. Press the message you want to include from the left column and it will appear in the order window after the item in the format it will appear on the kitchen receipt. The message will only be printed on the receipt where the item is printed. To include a message for an entire order, enter the message first, then enter the items included in the order.
If instructions other than one of the standard messages needs to be sent to the kitchen, press the Special Kitchen Message button. A keyboard will display where the server can enter a message to be printed on the kitchen receipt. There is a 40 character limit to any free form message.
Splitting Checks
Splitting checks in iQ-POS is done using seats. A single check can include up to 9 different seats. Checks can be split either while the items are being entered, or after the order is complete.
Splitting Checks while entering order
- Sign into iQ-POS Terminal Screen.
- Press Item Options.
- Press Seat 1.
- Ring in all items ordered by the guest in Seat 1.
- Press Item Options.
- Press Seat 2.
- Ring in all items ordered by the guest in Seat 2.
Continue this process for as many seats are required then press Hold/Recall to send the order to the kitchen. If more than 9 seats are needed, start a new order and use a different hold/table ID. For example, if it is table 34, start a second check and hold it as table 34A. Use the same steps to split the "secondary check" for the table into as many as required.

IMPORTANT: If the check needs to be split into more that 9 seats, it is highly recommended to split the check while entering the order. If it needs to be split after all items have been entered, items for seats higher than 9 will need to be removed from the original order, re-entered on a new order and then split into the appropriate seats. If this happens, use the Send Options/No Make feature so the kitchen does not make the same order twice.
