Workstation Settings

Workstation configuration settings are settings that only pertain to a single workstation or device versus "globally". If you are using Terminal Services, and using IQ-POS on tablets, and you wish for the settings to be different by each of these devices, it is important to add the POSTerminals=1 registry setting and then restarting the device. See roomMaster Online help / Advanced Topics / Registry Settings for more information on this.

Maintenance > Configuration and Settings > Workstation Settings Tab

General

The Workstation Identity and Registration Information is the location information for this terminal. This needs to be entered exactly as provided by InnQuest Software, as your passcode is unique to you and is based on this information. If you have 1 restaurant with 4 terminals, each of the 4 terminals should have the exact same settings. If you have a restaurant and a gift shop, they will be different and will require different passcodes. Contact InnQuest Software for more information.

The Passcode is the registration passcode given to you by InnQuest Software or your reseller. If you do not have one, you must leave this blank.

Change This Information allows to change the registration information for this workstation. So if a workstation changes from a restaurant workstation to a gift shop workstation, press this button and enter the gift shop information.

Update Master Record is used when the change made in the registration information should be applied to all future workstations that are added. For example, if the name of your restaurant changes, press Update Master Record after entering the new registration information. All new workstations added will pull up the updated registration when first opened. Any current workstations would still need to be updated manually.

Import/Export Settings - When setting up a multi-station iQ-POS network at your property, the settings for each workstation can be exported and saved, then imported to another workstation. The exported file can also be sent to InnQuest Software Support, helping us provide better support to our clients. Select Export Workstation Settings to save the settings on a workstation to a file. All of the information from the Maintenance > Configuration and Settings > Workstation Settings is saved. Next, go to another workstation and select Maintenance > Configuration and Settings > Import Workstation Settings to open the saved file and import the settings.

Options

Startup Options

Track Server/Employee for Each Sale will require users to login each time they need to enter an order.

Stay Logged In Between Sales is usually used in Bar Stations. Check this option if the same person will be entering all or most of the orders for this station.

Restaurant Mode (Check Numbers and Credit Card Approvals) will create a check number for each ticket opened. Checking this option will also get an approval for credit card payments. This option only applies if you are using credit card processing with iQ-POS and you operate a restaurant. Turning this on will cause credit card transactions to get an approval for the amount of the check plus 15% average gratuity. The check should then be held and returned to the guest to sign and add a gratuity, if desired. The server can then close the check with the final total including any gratuity. With this option unchecked, the credit card interface will simply charge the card for the amount of the sale.

Show One Step Scan, Authorize and Hold Option(Usually Bar Stations) allows you to swipe a credit card after entering a guest order and automatically get an approval on the card and place the check on hold under the guests name. This works great for a bar outlet, keeping key strokes to a minimum and improving the work flow. You must have a credit card interface with roomMaster and iQ-POS to use this feature.

Display Service Menu (Dine In/Bar/Take Out) for each sale will display a screen prompting the user to specify a Service Class (Dine In, Bar, Take Out or Room Service) for each order.

Send Voided Items to Kitchen/Bar Printer is used when an item has already dropped in the kitchen or bar, and then it is voided. The supervisor has the option to send a message to the kitchen/bar again indicating that the item has been voided. If this is checked, and the user is not a supervisor, the item will be sent as dropped to the kitchen without prompting the user.

Only Supervisors can Remove All Items when selecting Remove Items options will display the Remove All Items button only for Managers and Supervisors. All others would need to remove items one at a time.

Always prompt for Employee Tip reassignment will automatically display the Employee Lookup screen after a gratuity amount is entered. This function works great for service outlets with a central cashier.

Bill to Room

To enable billing to room, you must first establish transfer debit and transfer credit accounts in roomMaster. These are the accounts that will be used to track bill to room charges. For detailed information on configuring Bill to Room, see Billing to Room.

Outlet Configuration

Terminal Settings(Multiple Stations Only)

Use Drawer to specify a drawer number for this workstation. This will let you track deposits for each terminal if necessary. Leave it as 0 to track money for the entire system all together. When posting Bill to Room or End of Day processing, roomMaster will use this drawer setting to record transactions as well.

If you hold a license to run iQ-POS in multiple locations (Premier and Enterprise Editions), specify an Outlet ID here. This designates this category to be associated with a specific location and it will only appear on the iQ-POS terminal of that location. See Outlet Identification for more information.

Hold Order Selection

This area allows you to determine how you want to label held orders, by number, by keyboard, or with a location map.

Hold Orders by Number - Select this option if the tables in an outlet are numbered. The servers will only need to enter the table number to hold the check. The same table number is then used to recall the check to enter more items or close it.

Hold Orders by Keyboard - Select this option to have the servers enter the table name on the on-screen keyboard. The on-screen keyboard will appear automatically when Hold/Recall is selected.

Hold Orders by Location Map - Click on Setup Hold Location Map to configure a location map of your outlet. Once entered, the map will appear when Hold/Recall is selected. The server then just selects the table for the order being held from the map. Click here for information on configuring location maps.

Pick Table Before Starting Order - This option brings up the Hold ID/Table Number prompt screen prior to entering items on an order. Click the Hold /Recall button when the order is complete and the order is held to the location specified. For this option to work, Display Service Menu must be checked.

Display Time Out

This is the screen saver option for iQ-POS. You can enter a picture or create an image file that might include advertising for upcoming events or daily specials. This setting is workstation specific.

Image Name - Enter the file name of an image (Gif, Jpg, Bmp) in the form of filename.extension. For example, restaurant.gif The image must be saved in the roomMaster program folder. Only enter the file name in the field. Including a path, drive or UNC pathing will not allow this to function correctly. If you leave this field blank, the default "IQ" logo will appear.

Wait Time in Seconds - Set the number of seconds of inactivity on the screen before the image will display. A 0 value means the workstation screen will never time out and the image will never appear.

Flash in Random Location rather than move slowly - Select this option if you prefer the screen saver image to bounce around the screen randomly.

This is a Touch-Screen Monitor, Hide Function Keys on Payment Screen - Selecting this option will remove the Function key reminders from the payment screen. So instead of displaying F4 - Visa/Mastercard, the button will display Visa/Mastercard only.

Do not offer to shut-down Windows when exiting terminal mode - When logged in using the POS Terminal Mode, iQ-POS automatically offers to close Windows when closing down iQ-POS. Checking this option will skip this step and return you to the windows desktop.
