POS Outlets

POS Outlet Identification allows you to configure certain service points in your establishment so certain items only appear on those terminals. For example, you can setup an outlet of "Gift Shops" and another of "Restaurants" and one of "Bar". Once the outlet names are setup, you can then only include certain categories of items to appear on the workstations within that outlet. Access this feature but going to Maintenance > POS Outlet Identification.

General

Enter the Outlet ID, 1-9, and the outlet name in the Description. Multiple computers can be assigned the same outlet ID. So, for example, you can have 5 computers in the Gift Shop all using Outlet #1 and 5 computers in the Restaurant using Outlet #2 and only display the categories you want for the outlet.

Outlet #1 - Gift Shop
Category Shirts
Category Pens
Category Cigarettes
Category Candy

Outlet #2 - Restaurant
Category Beer/Wine
Category Entree
Category Brunch
Category Drinks
Category Desserts

The Quick Menu Group Sequence speeds up the ordering process by selecting up to three categories that the terminal screen will default to when it is opened. For example, in a restaurant you may enter the "Beverage" category, then the "Appetizer" category and then the "Main Course" category. When the server signs in, the items in the Beverage category will appear, then the items from the Appetizer category, then the items from the Main Course. This way the server does not have to keep selecting the category. When the Auto Split Seats option is checked, the same categories will be cycled through for as many seats as needed until the order is held.

If your property has the InnQuest Gift Card system, checking the Disable InnQuest Gift Cards at this Outlet will hide the Gift Card Load, Gift Card Payment and Gift Card Inquiry buttons on the Payment/Print screen, not allowing InnQuest Gift Cards to be loaded or accepted at this outlet. You might use this option if you do not want to accept gift cards at a specific outlet on property, like a gas station or grocery store.

Credit Card Processing

A separate Merchant ID for each outlet can be entered for properties using a credit card processing module, like Shift4's Dollars on the Net. This is highly recommended since transaction rates for restaurants and retail outlets are lower than for hotels.

In addition to only showing certain categories on the workstation and Outlet level, you can override the Paid Out and Payment Accounts for the outlet as well. The system will first look to see if you have overridden the payment accounts on the iQ-POS Outlet level, then on the "POS" level and then if neither have been overridden, it will use the Payment Account designated as Payments in roomMaster. Click here for information on configuring override accounts.

When using overridden accounts for each iQ-POS outlet, make sure to enter the proper account codes to be used for payment and refund accounts in roomMaster in Setup > Configuration > Guest Ledger > Account Codes > Special Account Assignments. Enter the payment and refund account codes per outlet by highlighting the payment type, i.e. Visa, American Express, etc., and using the POS Outlet Specific option.

Once you have created all your POS Outlet identifications, you must physically go to each workstation/computer and assign it a valid Outlet ID. To do this, go to Maintenance > Configuration and Settings > Workstation > Outlet Configuration and fill in the proper Outlet ID field for that particular terminal.

If you replace the computer workstation or reformat the drive at the computer workstation, you will have to reassign all workstation settings. Use the Import/Export options to make it easy to re-enter the workstation settings.

POS Outlet Location Maps

When setting up the Location Map, you can position tables and seats on a screen for each Outlet. Select Add Table ... and give the table a name. Once the table appears on the map, click on it to change the attributes of the item. Here, you can delete the item, rename the item, move the item to another location on the map, or change the icon to a table, chair, person or booth.

The Location Map can use your own custom layout. This layout can be made with any graphics program like Paint Brush or Adobe PhotoShop. Save it as 800x500 pixels in the PropertyShare directory, using the file name postile9.jpg

If you need additional layouts, you can overwrite the existing ones (postile1.jpg through postile6.jpg)
