Cash Drawer

A cash drawer can be set to open automatically when a payment key is used if you have a compatible cash-drawer. Each account code attached to the payment key that you want to open the cash drawer must be marked in the Account Codes > Other Options screen in roomMaster. Typical account codes selected are Cash, Check and Refunds.

Configuring Cash Drawers

To configure a cash drawer in iQ-POS, go to Maintenance > Workstation Settings > Printer Setup > Cash Drawer Settings.

Drawer Type determines if and how the signal is sent to the cash drawer.

Disabled will prevent the signal from being sent to open the cash drawer.

Com Port

When a cash drawer is connected to your computer's com-port, enter the Com Port a certain baud rate, parity, data bit and stop bit configuration. In addition, it will require a transmission of a null character for a certain number of milliseconds. The accomplishment of transmitting null characters from the computer serial port to the cash drawer will release the drawer. This is accomplished by a signal to momentarily activate a 24V DC solenoid.

important

The system only opens and closes the COM port when needed so the solenoid may need to be continually charged by a power cord. If the drawer does not have a power cord, you can purchase one, otherwise, the drawer may not open.

Printer RJ-11 Connect the cash drawer to the RJ-11 interface in the back of the TM-series Epson printer and use the correct driver located in Maintenance > Workstation Settings > Printer Setup > Credit Card processing and Receipt Printer Setup.

Drawer Configuration is where you set the signal sent to the drawer. It is only used with the Printer RJ-11 Drawer Type.

ASCII Codes - Use the drop down box to select the proper open drawer ASCII code for most common receipt printers. If your printer is not on the list, the ASCII code must be entered in xxx format such as ASCII character 27 must be entered as 027. To make three null characters be sent to the COM port, you should enter 000000000 as the ASCII Characters string. If you want to send ASCII characters 27, 112,100,100,100 to the COM port, you should enter 027112100100100 as the ASCII Character string.

Times Sent - This determines the number of times the signal is sent from the printer to the drawer.

If you have different cash drawers on different workstations, you will have to configure the cash drawer from each workstation.

Opening the Cash Drawer

Pressing Ctrl+Z while on the Terminal screen or the Guest Folio screen will open the cash drawer. Pressing Payment/Print(F4) > No Sale/Open Drawer can also be used to open the cash drawer.
